I used to sit and wonder why “Illmatic” didn’t go platinum ‘til years after it hit the record store/I understand what happens when you release a classic so epic instead of its recognition reaction gets slept on more/I’m laughing ‘cause all I’m hearing are people yapping about the fact that music left right out the exit door/yet you present them with something fresh and they shun it don’t want it expression is just a relic of what it was before/let’s take it back, to the place where it started in Africa before the population departed/in every civilization no matter the population or size of tribe, music’s inside their lives/this helps to draw the conclusion that no matter how far back you trace it, music has its placement/not to mention the fact that your heart beats so hardly’s there any room for debatin’ but/anyway as we take it back in the day where on tablets of clay find the Hurrian Song/the oldest surviving notated work of music including the song with instructions on how to sing along/not where it starts there’ve been conclusions formed that music was spawned from rhythm and sounds of everyday livin’/early instruments crafted out of bone to assist them with their voices which were the first in existence/which is why as it travels through different forms and ages, it’s the method in which I use to explain it/but not the only you see to me the scape is what makes it so you vibe and know you truly relate it’s/literally engrained in my history visually seen me through all of life’s misery/vividly I remember, summer nights with the windows down music blazin’ through these city streets/all the multiple styles make up the playlist in a daze at really it’s just another day in/the life of a music nerd concurring this way all the thoughts are escaping/the reason I’m giving this quick history lesson is hopes that you take it while you are listening/to this synopsis and know this is truly thee culmination of all the different things that influence me/Blues/Psychedelic Rock/Hip-Hop/Classical/Electronic/Rock and Roll/R&B/Metal/EVERYTHING
